Dr. Kelvin Tan Guoping is a Senior Consultant and Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon at Singapore Sports and Orthopaedic Clinic (SSOC). He brings extensive expertise in hip and knee reconstructive surgeries, having trained in Singapore and abroad. Dr. Kelvin is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, a recognition he earned in 2015, and is registered with the Singapore Specialist Accreditation Board.

Dr. Kelvin completed a prestigious international Orthopaedic fellowship in 2017 under Professor Ross Crawford in Brisbane, Australia. His fellowship training focused on advanced techniques in Robotic-Assisted Joint Replacements, Primary and Revision Hip and Knee Reconstructive surgeries, Complex Hip Reconstruction, including Impaction Bone Grafting for failed hip replacements or Congenital Hip Dysplasia, and Peri-Prosthetic Fracture Fixation.

In his current practice at SSOC, Dr. Kelvin utilizes state-of-the-art technologies such as Robotics and Computer Navigation for performing hip and knee replacements, including unicompartmental (partial) knee replacements. He is proficient in various surgical approaches for hip replacement, including the Direct Anterior Approach (DAA) for total hip replacement.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Kelvin was the Clinical Champion for the Knee Replacement Clinical Pathway and a key leader in the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Knee Replacement Taskforce at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). He was instrumental in developing protocols that significantly improved patient outcomes and experiences post-surgery. His commitment to enhancing recovery protocols led him to Royal Jubilee Hospital in Scotland and Norfolk and Norwich Hospital in the United Kingdom in 2019, as part of a Ministry of Health HMDP Scholarship.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Kelvin is deeply involved in academia. He holds academic appointments at both Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS), and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He was appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor by NUS in 2020 and serves as a Core Clinical Faculty Member and Clinical Competencies Committee Member of the National Healthcare Group Orthopaedic Residency Program, where he mentors the next generation of Orthopaedic surgeons in Singapore.

Dr. Kelvin is also active in research and has published widely in peer-reviewed medical journals. He has presented his work at local and international conferences and is frequently invited to teach and demonstrate his techniques in Hip and Knee Surgery. Additionally, he is a certified Robotic Trainer, reflecting his commitment to advancing surgical techniques and education in Orthopaedics.
